Scientists at Tufts University recently found that people who followed a low-calorie, low-fat (15% of calories from fat) diet not only lost weight and lowered their cholesterol levels but also significantly enhanced their immune response.


At most sandwich shops you can ask for double the veggies, and they’ll happily oblige. Many shops will also make you salad bowls. Just point to the ingredients you want, and they’ll fill up a bowl for you.

We have been very successful of late in getting insurance money back to our Pritikin guests, and they thank us often. As always, insurance will not cover the hotel or food costs, but many guests are now getting $$$$ back for their medical services.


Weekends are a danger zone for weight gain. A new study found that the average 19- to 50-year-old consumes 115 more calories per day (mostly from alcohol and fat) on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays than on the other days of the week. This can add up to a weight gain of almost 5 pounds in one year.
