The Wellness + Prevention Package, pre-booked, is $1,150 ($1,500 value).

This package is an addition to your Pritikin Program. In other words, after you make reservations for a one-week stay or longer at Pritikin, you may enhance your stay with this Wellness + Prevention Package.


This Package includes:

RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate)

Having trouble controlling your weight? Several factors may be involved, including getting older, which means your body’s composition (fat-muscle ratio) may be shifting. As we age, our bodies tend to add fat and lose muscle.

Another factor, related to body composition, is your resting metabolic rate, or RMR. Your RMR
is the number of calories your body naturally burns every day with little or no activity. If we gain body fat and shed muscle, our RMRs tend to decrease.

Knowledge of your RMR is valuable because it will help you understand the optimal type of physical activity you need for achieving an optimal body composition.

Optimal physical activity will mean you’re doing a great job of shedding fat and preserving/building muscle, regardless of your age. In turn, you’ll improve your RMR, transforming your body into a better fuel-burning machine. There’ll be no more guessing about the best exercise plan to reach your goals. With your RMR, your exercise leaders can tailor the Pritikin Program to your body.

BME (Biomechanical + Musculoskeletal Evaluation)

BME, a service in high demand at Pritikin, can greatly help in establishing an exercise program for you that is sustainable and safe. Conducted by one of our biomechanical consultants, each of whom has had more than 25 years orthopedic experience, the BME tailors your
exercise program to your specific physical capacities so that you can work out without injury – and without pain.

Your BME begins with a 90-minute evaluation of your posture, alignment, gait, muscle strength, range of motion, flexibility, and any pain or discomfort you feel in your daily activities.

You'll receive personalized exercise instructions based on your unique needs.You'll also receive written step-by-step guidelines and pictures of the exercises for future use when you return home, plus a dictated narrative detailing each exercise's purpose and benefit.

You’ll then receive 1 hour of personalized training from one of our exercise physiologists that is based on your unique biomechanical and musculoskeletal profile. Your physiologist will make sure you’re performing every exercise correctly.

Together, you will also create a home exercise plan designed for lifelong success.

Personal Exercise Training

You’ll continue the good work you’ve begun with your BME and exercise training with an additional 1-hour personal exercise session. One-on-one coaching with a Pritikin exercise physiologist is the best track to a leaner, fitter you.

DEXA Body Composition Scan - The Medical Gold Standard

Even more important than what you weigh is what your body is made of, particularly your amount of muscle mass and fat tissue.

The DEXA Body Composition Scan calculates your percentage of lean muscle and body fat in multiple areas of your body.

Gaining muscle and losing body fat can greatly enhance your weight-control efforts because the more lean muscle you have, the more calories you burn.

More muscle mass also means you look better - leaner, more toned – regardless of what the bathroom scale says.

DEXA Bone Density Testing

Osteoporosis (bone loss) can lead to fractures, such as hip and spinal fractures, and significant bone deformity. Unfortunately, many people don’t know they’re at risk until they suffer a fracture – and all its debilitating consequences.

The heartening news is that bone loss can be assessed simply and painlessly with DEXA Bone Density Testing, the most advanced assessment of bone strength.

With the results of your DEXA test, you and your physician will be able to take steps to treat any bone deterioration before you’re at risk of fracture. You will also learn how to prevent further bone loss.

Personal Nutrition Consultation

We all have personal likes and dislikes when it comes to food. Your private consultation with a Pritikin registered dietitian will help you tailor the Pritikin Eating Plan to your own lifestyle and food preferences. You’ll be amazed at all the tasty possibilities!

Personal Lifestyle Coaching

During your private 1-hour session, our Director of Behavioral Medicine and Wellness will help you develop the skills and ideal mind-set for maintaining your new healthy habits at home.

This life-changing session will identify your areas of challenge, establish goals, and coach you in developing support on the home front. You will learn how to stay on track with Pritikin living wherever life leads you.
