My work at Pritikin is the perfect fusion of orthopedics and fitness.
Frank Musumeci is the Biomechanical Director at the Pritikin Longevity Center, where he has spent more than two decades developing and delivering individualized exercise programs designed to improve function, prevent injury, and promote healthy aging. A highly regarded lecturer and consultant, he specializes in the integration of orthopedic principles, biomechanics, and exercise science to help individuals safely maintain active lifestyles across the lifespan.
Since joining Pritikin in 2004, Frank has helped shape the Center’s approach to orthopedic-based exercise prescription, providing personalized assessments and exercise recommendations tailored to each guest’s unique musculoskeletal needs. His work is particularly focused on adults over 50, emphasizing injury prevention, mobility preservation, and long-term adherence to physical activity. He also contributed to the development and delivery of educational content for the Pritikin Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation (ICR) Program, a hospital-based lifestyle medicine initiative focused on cardiovascular health through exercise and nutrition.
Prior to Pritikin, Frank built an extensive career in sports medicine and orthopedic rehabilitation. He began his professional career working with Dr. Charles Virgin, team physician for the Miami Dolphins, where he treated professional and recreational athletes and participated in research involving anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and postoperative rehabilitation protocols. He later served as Director of The Sport Clinic, a respected orthopedic and sports medicine practice, and worked with the Miami Miracle Minor League Baseball Team.
In addition to his clinical work, Frank has dedicated much of his career to education. He served as a clinical faculty member for Barry University’s Podiatric School of Medicine. Lectured at Larkin Hospital Sports Medicine Fellowship Program, teaching post operative, rotator cuff, and ACL reconstruction protocols.
Frank has also been a paid lecturer for AARP, Cybex Equipment Company, Oasis Concierge Practice, and Florida Society of Rheumatology. His expertise has been featured in national media outlets, including Runner’s World, Spa Finder, Outside Magazine, and The Boston Globe.
Through his work at Pritikin and beyond, Frank’s mission remains focused on helping individuals optimize movement, reduce injury risk, and preserve quality of life through evidence-based exercise and healthy aging strategies.
